Fridays   10:00-11:30 Advanced Belly Dance Series with Deborah

 

Summer is for Belly Dance, and we have a new Class Series starting up!

Our new 6-Week Series run from the week of June 18th-July 23rd. The series is offered on Fridays at 10:00. Our class sizes are limited to 9 people, so call Deborah to be sure of a space! This 6-week series is only $69!

 

Drop-In Classes are ongoing unless otherwise specified.

The Tuesday Drop-In Class at 7:00 is a beginner/intermediate class focusing on technique and combinations taught by Areena. Contact Areena at 505.424.1985 or arjuna.estul@hotmail.com for more information.

 

The Wednesday Drop-In Class at 5:30 is an intermediate class focusing on technique, combinations, and group choreography taught by Deborah. For more information, contact Deborah at 505.699.2887 or dnewberg@USA.net.

Santa Fe Community College Classes this summer and fall!!!
Deborah’s summer credit class on Wednesday and Friday afternoons is full. There is one space still available in the credit class on Wednesday afternoons this fall! However, there is a lot of space available in the SFCC continuing education class which will be a 6-week course on Thursday evenings, 5:30-7:00. This class will be held at Saltanah Studios beginning June 17th, and you can register through SFCC continuing ed.

Sunday, June 20th, 11-Noon:

Dancing with Zils: How to marry your Hands to your Feet to the Beat! with Deborah

We will begin at the very beginning, with playing the basic zil pattern with good sound and timing, and build to combining playing zils with a variety of steps and movements, and a few zil pattern variations. This is the valuable work that we never have enough time for in class!
Class limited to 10, so register early to be sure of your place! Only $12!

 

Sunday, June 20th, 2-5 P.M.:

Belly Dance Swap Meet!!!!!!! The Taos Belly Dancers who are members of the group HipGnosis! will be at Saltanah Studios selling a wide variety of costumes, accessories and miscellaneous. Come meet these wonderful women and shop for amazing finds!

 

Sunday, June 27th, 10-Noon & 1-3 P.M.:

Rhythms and Musicality for Dancers, with Deborah, Part 1: 10-Noon, Part 2: 1-3 P.M.

This workshop is a left-brain, right-brain and whole-body approach to rhythm training and musicality for dancers. It includes a lot of information with handouts and a CD, as well as experiential exercises. Part 1 includes understanding rhythm, and covers rhythms in 4/4, 2/4 and 8/4, including saidi, beledy, maksum, masmoudi, chiftitelli and wahida, and ayoub. Part 2 continues with 4/4 rhythms in a 3-3-2 pattern, such as malfuf, and goes on to odd rhythms, such as 7/8, 9/8, Arabic 10/8 (Samai)and Armenian 10/8, as time allows! We'll learn to feel and incorporate these amazing rhythms.
Class size is limited to 10, so register early to be sure of your place!
Part 1 only is $25 in Advance, $30 at the door.
Part 2 only would be for those who took Part 1 already, $25 in Advance, $30 at the door.
If you're an incredibly focused person who actually wants to do both in 1 day, $40 in advance, $50 at the door.

Go out West Alameda, pass Camino Alire, pass Calle Nopal. On your left you’ll see the sign for West Side Studios, 2200 W. Alameda. Go all the way down the driveway, keep going until it opens into the huge dirt parking lot. On your left, the studio entrance is the big blue door with prayer flags. Enter and dance!
